Module 9 - CNC course & training
Tapping, thread forming, thread milling
The first point is tapping, the basic terms, the machining process when tapping, the use of the various gate shapes and flute geometries.
The designs and areas of application of taps with the recommended cutting data are presented.
Thread forming is treated as a second method. In addition to the basic terms, the thread forming process, the polygon geometry on the tool, the importance of pre-machining, designs, areas of application and practice-oriented cutting data are dealt with. Which materials are actually suitable for thread forming?
The advantages of thread forming for the user compared to tapping are explained as well as the use of modern Soft Synchro thread chucks.
The process of thread milling, the 3D interpolation, the use of solid carbide thread milling cutters and thread milling cutters with indexable inserts form the third point. The technology of drill thread milling and thread milling into solid material is shown and suitable applications are presented.
Finally, the different types of tapping chucks, how they are used and their advantages and disadvantages are explained.
